While the world suffered in this pandemic, how people managed their lives and how they acquired needed goods changed profoundly. The large-scale movement to online shopping made 2020 a spectacular year for online businesses and therefore for domain sellers specifically.
Perhaps other domain sellers did well with premium consumer goods-related names, but we found our gambling names to do the best, instead. In fact, over 78% of earnings was all from gaming domains.
I think this happened for two reasons. First, all online businesses are jockeying for the best position they can get, and acquiring great domain names is a part of that effort — it’s why all premium domains did better this past year. And then, it reveals where our portfolio is really strong.
